Overview (resum en anglès):
For more than fifteen years, sports activity on the university campus has needed some form of organization for its leagues and tournaments. At first, this management was handled with spreadsheets: matches, results, and standings were recorded manually in Excel, a simple but slow method that was prone to errors, difficult to keep up to date, and hard to share among organizers and players alike.

Over time, a step forward was taken with an application that offered a more or less functional service and made it possible to manage the day-to-day running of the usual competitions, reducing much of the manual workload that spreadsheets had required. However, as sports activity on campus grew and diversified, new competition formats emerged, such as elimination brackets combined with group stages, or leagues with variable numbers of participants, that this tool was unable to support. What had previously been sufficient fell short, and these newer competitions went back to being managed manually or in an improvised way, once again relying on spreadsheets, printed sheets, or informal messaging among organizers.

This situation revealed a clear gap: the existing solution could handle conventional formats reasonably well, but lacked the flexibility needed to accommodate the growing variety of competitions that student and staff demand had brought about. Manually managing these new formats not only increased the workload for organizers but also introduced inconsistencies, delays in publishing results, and a poorer overall experience for players, who had grown accustomed to more automated and transparent systems.

It is in this context that the present Bachelor's Thesis is framed. Its main objective is to respond to these unmet needs through Padel PMT, a digital platform designed for the management of padel leagues and tournaments in a university environment, with particular focus on the Baix Llobregat campus. The platform aims to support a wide range of competition formats, from simple round-robin leagues to more complex combinations of group stages and knockout brackets, while remaining flexible enough to adapt to future formats that may arise as the sports activity continues to evolve.

To make the platform convenient for both organizers and players, Padel PMT is available as both a web application and a mobile application, both connected to the same central backend service. This shared architecture guarantees that information such as match schedules, results, and standings is always up to date and remains consistent across all devices, regardless of which interface is used to access it. Organizers benefit from tools to create and configure competitions, register participants, schedule matches, and record results, while players can consult calendars, check standings, and follow the progress of the competitions they are enrolled in, all in real time and without the friction that characterized the earlier spreadsheet-based and application-based approaches.
