| Overview (resum en anglès): | |
| Enlaz is a digital platform designed to support the digital transformation of local commerce through an integrated ecosystem focused on digital identity, payments, communication, geospatial discovery and data sovereignty. The project addresses the difficulties faced by small businesses when competing with large digital platforms, particularly the technological and economic barriers associated with digitalisation and dependence on external intermediaries. Inspired by SuperApp ecosystems, Enlaz adapts this concept to local neighbourhood commerce while emphasising privacy, interoperability and control over user data.
The platform has been developed as a multiplatform application using Flutter and Dart, with a backend based on FastAPI and a service oriented architecture. MongoDB is used as the main operational database, including geospatial capabilities for locating nearby businesses, while Apache Jena Fuseki provides semantic infrastructure prepared for future RDF and SPARQL integration. Authentication uses JWT tokens with HMAC SHA256, while asynchronous WebSockets provide real time communication. The mobile application also incorporates native QR code scanning for digital payments and transfers. Enlaz provides different functionalities according to the type of account. Individual users can discover local businesses and products, search for establishments on an interactive map, communicate with businesses, manage their digital balance and make QR based payments. Local businesses can manage their commercial information, publish products and interact with customers. The platform also incorporates consumption vouchers and sustainability information to promote local consumption. The prototype was validated through performance, geospatial, concurrency and mobile tests. REST API measurements obtained response times between 3.8 milliseconds for nearby business searches and 18.4 milliseconds for authentication. Geospatial searches were validated using a dataset of 56,838 businesses from the Barcelona commercial census. WebSocket tests verified 100 concurrent messages with full delivery and response times below 10 milliseconds. Mobile verification showed a reference of 60 frames per second on the test device and a QR payment interface response below 0.5 seconds. The results demonstrate the feasibility of integrating local commerce services, digital payments, geospatial discovery, communication and digital identity within a single platform. Enlaz provides a technical foundation for a more interoperable and privacy oriented local commerce ecosystem. Future work will focus on extending the semantic infrastructure, integrating Digital Product Passport mechanisms and performing broader usability, security and performance evaluations. |
