| The rapid development of Wi-Fi technologies in recent years has caused a significant increase in the user traffic demands, which may lead to situations in which the user performance may not be guaranteed. Wi-Fi Network optimization tasks have been traditionally based on a network centric perspective that consists on determining the configuration parameters of the different Access Points based on aggregated statistics of all the users connected to the same Access Point. The approach proposed in this work consists on a more user centric approach to identify situations with poor user performance that couldn't be detected with a classical approach.
For this purpose, a set of available measurements collected from different Access Points in a real Wi-Fi network is considered. The main objective of this work is to analyse these real measurements to identify geographical regions and periods of time with high user traffic demands and poor user performance. Different statistical (user centric vs network centric) approaches will be compared. Additionally, the inclusion of AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning) approaches may be proposed depending on the results obtained in the first steps.
