| Overview (resum en anglès): | |
| With the deployment of 5G New Radio (NR) and the increasing integration of non-terrestrial networks (NTN) into the aerospace sector, airborne and satellite-borne base stations operate under extremely strict energy constraints. Within the radiofrequency (RF) transmission chain, the power amplifier (PA) is both the most power-consuming and the highest distortion-generating component. To maximize energy efficiency, the PA must be operated near its saturation region, which introduces severe non-linear distortions. These distortions compromise data integrity and violate strict out-of-band emission regulations.
This work presents an exhaustive characterization and linearization study of a Sequential Load-Modulated Balanced Amplifier (SLMBA) featuring integrated power driver stages, evaluated under wideband modulated signal conditions (5G NR). The primary objective is to resolve the trade-off between energy efficiency and linearity by designing, analyzing, and comparing two distinct transmitter topologies: a Single-Input architecture and a Dual-Input architecture. |
