| This study proposes an experimental project focused on analysing the electrical behaviour of plant tissues. The main aim is to understand how electrical signals travel through different parts of a plant, how they are modified, and whether their behaviour can be described using electrical and electronic models.
Plants are living systems made up of complex tissues containing water, cells, membranes and vascular structures. From an engineering point of view, these tissues may behave as biological electrical media, showing resistance, capacitance, attenuation and frequency-dependent effects. Studies will also compare different plant species or tissue types to identify similarities and differences. Studying these properties can be very useful. The project will be carried out using low-voltage, low-current electrical signals to avoid damaging the plants. Signals such as sine waves, square waves, triangular waves and pulses will be injected into selected plant tissues. The response will then be measured at different points using laboratory equipment. |
