Descripció del contingut i pla d'activitats:
The aim of this undergraduate thesis is to develop and test a simple analytical model for estimating the minimum operational fleet required to cover an airline's flight schedule. Using historical flight data, the study will relate fleet requirements to a small set of aggregate characteristics, such as traffic volume, aircraft utilisation, operating window and network size. The model will be calibrated for several airlines or operating periods and its predictive accuracy will be assessed. An exploratory comparison will also examine whether hub-and-spoke and low-cost or multi-base networks exhibit different operational patterns. The study is intended as a parsimonious proof of concept rather than a detailed fleet-routing model.
