Overview (resum en anglès): Dengue is a viral disease transmitted by the mosquitoes Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. The presence of the latter, together with international mobility and climate change, increases the risk of autochthonous transmission in Barcelona. The aim of this study is to assess this risk through the development of a mathematical epidemiological model adapted to the demographic, climatic and epidemiological characteristics of the city. To this end, a literature review of the main dengue transmission models was carried out, serving as the basis for developing a SEIR-SEI compartmental model implemented in MATLAB. The model incorporates the thermal dependence of the main biological parameters of the vector and allows the effects of imported cases, mosquito population density and temperature increase to be analysed. The results show that the risk of autochthonous transmission depends mainly on the synchronisation between the arrival of imported cases and the period of activity of Aedes albopictus. Likewise, it is observed that moderate increases in temperature may favour transmission, whereas higher temperatures tend to limit it. Overall, the results indicate that Barcelona currently presents a moderate vulnerability to autochthonous dengue transmission and highlight the importance of maintaining epidemiological surveillance and vector control, helping to improve the understanding of the factors that determine the risk of dengue transmission in the context of Barcelona.
